Fees

Individual Adults and Teens

$150 per 50 minute session.

Partners and Families

$180 per 50 minute session.
* I have a set number of reduced fee spots in my practice.
Insurance: I'm not able take insurance. I can provide an invoice statement or Superbill if you are submitting our sessions for out-of-network reimbursement. Please review this policy with your insurance first to ensure that payment for therapy is both feasible and sustainable.

Method of payment: I use a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform called SimplePractice. All scheduling, video sessions, and payment are conducted through this Telehealth platform. HSA/FSA cards can be used for payment.
Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate of Services: Under the 2021 No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency services.
  • Do you have health insurance? Do you wish to use it to receive compensation for services?
Axis Mundi Center for Mental Health does not bill or accept health insurance. However, your insurance plan may reimburse you for services received out-of-network. Our clinicians are happy to provide you with an invoice or  superbill detailing the cost of your service, but cannot act on your behalf as your representative.
  • Make sure your provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your service.
Axis Mundi clinicians must provide you with the fee for services before therapy begins. Fees for services are different clinician to clinician and cannot be relied upon to account for issues like illness, emergency, scheduling conflicts, etc. The agency supports annual increases of fee relative to cost-of-living increases (within our fee scales noted above) in order to support the sustainability of our clinicians.
  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
  • For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or send a text message to (415) 439-0518.

Session Structure

We will meet once a week on a day and time that we can meet consistently, as this supports the process of building trust and rapport in our relationship and supports the therapeutic process.

I try to limit the barriers to therapy as much as possible. Please let me know if you have any questions about session frequency, consistency, etc. early on so we can discuss if there are any appropriate adjustments we can make based on your needs and goals.

Availability

I see clients M-TH between the hours of 10am and 5pm.

I respond to emails, texts, calls M-F until 7pm, typically within 24 hours (unless I am out of the office). I do not have regular appointments scheduled on Fridays and do not have weekend availability.

How long does therapy last?

My practice is structured on deeper emotional work (in contrast with brief, solution-focused or skill-based therapies), which often requires more time to build trust in the relationship in order to process complex experiences. Of course, this varies person to person, as everyone is doing different emotional work. We will talk together about your goals and hopes for therapy and check in often about how it is going for you.

Why is 50 mins of therapy so expensive?

The underlying reason is (most simply put) the health care system in the US needs to be urgently reimagined and changed. And so within the system as it currently is: the cost of therapy covers much more outside sessions than just the 50 minutes in the session. This includes notes and legally required documentation, confidential practice management and video session platforms, fees required for professional and business licenses, office space, continuing education and professional development, professional association memberships, consultation with other providers, and personal therapy to ensure that the therapist responsibly handles their personal experiences so they do not harmfully impact your therapy, and cancellations or emergencies. Most therapists are also not filling their caseloads with a full 8 hours of clients a day - this leads to burnout, and a therapist with too many clients can’t give you the care you deserve.

Why don’t more therapists accept insurance?

Referring back to the realities of the US health care system as it is, being an in-network provider through an insurance company makes all the work listed above even harder and more costly, as insurance companies often demand additional clinical documentation, limit the scope of therapists’ work in ways that do not align with their clinical values, and generally do not pay a fee that reflects the work put in.
